    • at 9:30 a.m.: Meeting of the Greater Boston Seniors Computer Group at the Newton Senior Center, 345 Walnut St, Newtonville. Tom Seamans, a computer user since the 1960's, will be the speaker: "From Squiggles to Symbols. A Look at MS WORD". Q & A sessions will follow the presentation.

  • Sunday, March 13, at 3:00 p.m.: Newton Choral Society Concert: Leonard Bernstein, choruses from The Lark; Ben Steinberg, Torat Chayim. with Jason Abrams, counter-tenor, Geoffrey Fine, cantor.   • Tuesday, March 15, at 7:30 p.m.: Open Auditions for the Spring production of Captains Courageous by the Newton Country Players at the Yamawaki Center at Lasell College. Bring sheet music and be prepared to sing 16 bars of uptempo & ballad.

    This production has been chosen to represent the U.S.A. at the 2005 World Amateur Theatre Festival being held in Monaco. The group will be traveling to Monaco on July 28 and returning on Aug 3, 2005.

    There are many adult male roles open including the role of Captain Troup and Long Jack. The role of Harvey is also open and we are looking for a boy about 11-13 years old. All roles require strong singing and acting with some limited dance movement.

  • Thursday, March 24, at 6:30 p.m.: A Wild West Purim Party at Beth Menachem Chabad, 229 Dedham St, Newton. The party will begin with Megillah Reading, followed by a Tex-Mex Purim Dinner. Entertainment will be a three-piece band, and hamantashen will be served for dessert.

    Cost for the dinner is $20 per adult and teens ages 12 and up, with no charge for children through age 11. To reserve places, please contact BethMenachemChabad@comcast.net or 617-969-1170.
