  • Tuesday, May 4, at 7:30 p.m.: meeting of the Friends of Hemlock Gorge at the Emerson School, Pettee Street, Newton Upper Falls.
  • Wednesday, May 5, at 7:00 p.m.: Meeting of the Temple Emanuel Networking Group. Sarah Duncan Cardozo will speak on "How to Land a Position in Tough Times".
    Temple Emanuel is at 385 Ward Street, Newton. The building is handicap accessible and there is on-street parking. Free and open to the public.
  • Saturday, May 8, 9:00 a.m. -- 4:00 p.m.: Newton Garden Market on the Lawn at City Hall.
  • Friday, May 14, at 8:00 p.m.: Erev Shabbat Service with special guest, Ruth Messinger, Executive Director of the American Jewish World Service.
    At Congregation Dorshei Tzedek, 60 Highland St.
    A long-time Reconstructionist and national leader for social justice, Ruth will be speaking about AJWS's work around global hunger and in response to anti-gay legistlation in Africa.
    FREE AND OPEN TO THE PUBLIC.
  • Saturday, May 15: from 11:00 a.m. -- 5:00 p.m.: Newton Open Studios Spring Art Tour. Support the Arts in Newton!
  • Sunday, May 16:
  • Saturday, May 22, 8:00 a.m. -- 2:00 p.m.: Yard Sale! A fundraiser for the Newton Country Players. At the Newton Cultural Center, 225 Nevada Street,Newton, MA 02460.
  • Sunday, May 23 from 12:00 noon to 5:00 p.m.: 27th Annual House Tour, sponsored by the Newton Historical Society. $25 in advance. More information at the Newton History Museum web site.
