  • Wednesday, December 4, at 7:00 p.m.: Auditions for the Newton Country Players' production of Our Town.
  • Friday, December 6 at 4:00 p.m.: A community Shabbat Dinner will be held on the eighth night of Chanukah, at Beth Menachem Chabad of Newton. Enjoy the ambiance of the Shabbat experience, inspiring prayers, joyful songs, and a delicious Shabbat meal. Shabbat services at 4:00 p.m., Shabbat dinner at 5:00 p.m..   • Sunday, December 8
  • , 2:00 p.m. -- 5:00 p.m.: Opening day of "Four-Legged Newton" at the Jackson Homestead. What do dairy farms, a herd of performing elephants, a pioneering female vet, and Internet pets have in common? From the dairy cows and horses once relied upon by early residents to the pets well cherished today, animals have assisted people for centuries. They are all featured in The Homestead's newest exhibit, which explores relationships between people and animals throughout Newton's history in this very family- friendly exhibit.
  • Wednesday, December 11, 9:30 a.m.: Meeting of the Greater Boston Seniors Computer Group at the Newton Senior Center, 345 Walnut St, Newtonville. Don Levitan, PhD, Consultant and Researcher and Bob Newman, Computer Guru, speaks on "How to Use the Web Effectively and Efficiently. " Q & A sessions will follow the talk.

  • Friday, December 27, at 10:00 a.m. : "Once Upon A Wintertime." At the Jackson Homestead. Professional Storyteller Diane Edgecomb will warm your hearts and your imaginations with seasonal stories. She will tell tales ranging from Grimms' Tale of "Snow White and Rose Red" to tales of folksy New England escapades as well as others from many cultures. Following the stories, children may create popcorn and cranberry strings for winter bird food and enjoy refreshments including Starbuck's hot chocolate. This program is geared to ages 4 through 10, admission is $5.00 per person, reservations are required, and refreshments are included.
